After taking a look at the sales of the sub 4 meter SUV segment, let us now look at the 4.2 meter to 4.5 meter SUV segment which has recorded total sales of 60,252 units in June 2026, registering a 40.0% YoY growth as compared to 43,036 units sold in June last year. However, compared to May 2026, the segment’s volume declined by 14.94%, with sales falling by 70,836 units.

Maruti Victoris took the top spot for the first time with 10,035 units in June with 16.66% market share. Kia Seltos stood second with 9,654 units, registering an impressive growth of 84.77% YoY. Maruti Grand Vitara stood third with 9,092 units, a growth of 33.16%, while Toyota Highrider was close behind with 9,014 units, a growth of 20.80% year-on-year.
Hyundai Creta/Creta EV slipped to fifth position with 7,168 units, down 54.59% YoY and 52.95% MoM. As opposed to a demand-driven slowdown, Hyundai has clarified that the low Creta volumes were due to a fire at one of its suppliers that temporarily affected production. The company has confirmed that manufacturing has now returned to normal, indicating that sales should improve in the coming months.
Tata Sierra took the sixth position with 6,392 units. Although it has established a respectable presence since its launch, sales were slightly lower than the 6,606 units recorded in May. Recently Tata Motors announced the launch of Sierra Jubilee Edition as well as Sierra EV, which is expected to boost sales in the coming months.
At the bottom of the order, Tata Curve/EV sold 1,753 units, followed by Honda Elevate (1,561), Volkswagen Taigun (1,182), Mahindra BE6 (1,150), MG ZS EV (1,058) and Renault Duster (1,011). The Skoda Kushaq recorded 992 units, while the Citroen C3 Aircross (71 units), MG Astor (60 units), Mahindra XUV400 (31 units) and Citroen Basalt (28 units) rounded out the list. Competition is about to increase with the arrival of the Nissan Tecton, which was recently launched at a starting price of Rs 10.49 lakh.
4.2m to 4.5m SUV sales Q2 2026 – Creta retains lead
For the April-June 2026 period, the segment recorded total sales of 2,05,186 units, registering a strong growth of 60.23% compared to 1,28,059 units sold in Q2 2025. Despite June’s weak performance, the Hyundai Creta/EV remained the best-selling SUV of the quarter with 37,694 units and 18.37% market share, although volumes were down. 20.91% per annum.
Maruti Victoris took the second position with 34,589 units, followed by Kia Seltos with 30,817 units (+76.68%). The Toyota Highrider (26,793 units) took the fourth position, beating the Maruti Grand Vitara (26,176 units) by a slight margin, with both the SUVs registering a growth of over 36% year-on-year.
Tata Sierra accumulated 20,314 units during the quarter, easily establishing itself among the segment leaders. The Tata Curve/EV recorded 4,836 units, while the Renault Duster managed 4,637 units, highlighting the gap between expectations and actual demand for Renault’s comeback SUV. Skoda Kushaq recorded 4,153 units, Volkswagen Taigun sold 4,006 units, Honda Elevate sold 3,821 units, MG ZS EV recorded 3,337 units, while Mahindra BE6 ended the quarter with 3,222 units.
