The 2024 Dacia Spring emerged with a complete change in its sheet metal, somewhat like the second generation model and this gave rise to an electric version called the Dacia Spring EV, which further gave rise to a Renault counterpart called the Kwid E-Tech. In Brazil, Renault is selling both the old designed Kwid ICE and the newly designed Kwid E-Tech.
Industry speculation and expert analysis suggested Renault and Dacia may be phasing out the old design, but the latest spy shots suggest otherwise. These recent spy shots from Brazil show a possible update to the older design ICE version of the Kwid, with minor modifications to the design to achieve a refreshed look. let’s take a closer look.
2026 Renault Kwid facelift spied
In Brazil, Renault offers two variants of the Kwid – the Kwid and the Kwid e-Tech. Both with their own unique designs. The ICE model is based on the old design, while the new and more futuristic Kwid E-Tech gets a new design from the Dacia Spring EV.
Renault only. It looks like Renault Brazil is keeping the new design as is rather than porting it to the ICE version. Recent spy shots from Brazil show a test mule with partial camouflage and some updates and design modifications. This test mule is of an older design, reserved only for the ICE version.
The fascia is completely hidden and one can expect the new Renault logo as well as a small update to its headlights and DRL signatures. There is also some camouflage at the rear, where one can expect the new Renault logo along with a slightly modified LED tail light signature. The rear bumper of this test mule was missing its fake skid plate, suggesting a lower version.
The immediate change that is noticeable in this test mule is its radio antenna. Currently, the older design Renault Kwid ICE version in Brazil gets a regulated antenna at the front. This update will relocate the shark-fin antenna to the rear. The same 1.0L Energi engine is likely to continue with similar or slightly updated internals.
Will the Indian model also get the update?
Renault Kwid is a familiar vehicle in the Indian market. Here, it is currently in its first generation incarnation. The company is working on an electric model based on a new design, which has been seen several times during testing. It is uncertain whether Renault India will implement a similar strategy as Brazil with two different designs between the ICE and EV counterparts.
The current Kwid borrowed most of its equipment from the erstwhile Duster, which was one of its biggest features. The Kwid remains one of the few surviving SUVs in the A segment. An update to the Kwid ICE model may further increase its appeal, but Renault India has not confirmed this. The Kwid currently rivals the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso.
