Hyundai’s SUV lineup continues to grow volumes in April 2026, led by Creta, Venue and Exeter
Hyundai Motor India recorded total domestic sales of 51,902 units in April 2026. This implies a healthy growth of 17% year-on-year (YoY) compared to 44,374 units sold in April 2025. However, on a month-on-month (MoM) basis, sales declined by 6% compared to 55,064 units sold in March 2026.
SUVs continued to contribute significantly to Hyundai’s sales volumes. Creta was the company’s best-selling model with sales of 15,291 units last month. Despite maintaining its leading position in the mid-size SUV segment, Creta sales declined by 10% YoY and 14% MoM. Recently, the entry of new rivals and increasing competition in the segment has impacted demand.

The Venue emerged as Hyundai’s second best-selling model with sales of 12,420 units in April 2026. The compact SUV recorded a strong growth of 56% year-on-year at 7,953 units sold in April 2025. MoM sales also improved by 11%, indicating continued momentum for the model.

Exeter continued its steady growth path as Hyundai sold 8,096 units last month. Sales improved by 49% year-on-year and 25% month-on-month, making it one of the strongest performers in Hyundai’s lineup. The i20 premium hatchback also registered good profits with sales of 5,624 units, marking a growth of 60% YoY, while MoM sales remained largely stable.
Aura compact sedan recorded sales of 4,587 units, a 9% YoY improvement. However, MoM demand declined by a massive 31% compared to March 2026. The Grand i10 NIOS recorded almost steady year-on-year growth with sales of 4,149 units, while MoM sales declined by 18%.

Both Hyundai Verna sedan and Alcazar SUV saw low demand. Verna sales declined 14% YoY and 38% MoM to 865 units. Alcazar sales stood at 850 units, registering a decline of 16% YoY and a marginal 5% MoM decline. At the premium end, Hyundai sold 20 units of the IONIQ 5 electric SUV, which is better than 16 units sold in April 2025. Tucson recorded no sales during the month.
New SUV planned
Hyundai has already confirmed plans to expand its SUV portfolio in India. The company recently announced two all-new SUVs for the Indian market, both of which are expected to arrive by March 2027. One of these will be a new midsize crossover positioned between the Venue and Creta, reportedly based on the Bayonne. The second model will be a compact electric SUV targeted at the growing mass-market EV segment. As competition intensifies in the Indian market, Hyundai is also preparing the next generation Creta with several updates to its ICE and EV lineup.
