With an aim to provide more attractive options to buyers, Suzuki Malaysia has introduced new top-spec variants for several models. Along with the Jimny Rhino edition, Suzuki has also launched a new ‘Sport’ edition for the Fronx. Compared to the base Fronx variant priced at RM118,888 (Rs 27.89 lakh), the Fronx Sport is priced at RM130,888 (Rs 30.70 lakh). The Frontex is offered at a premium price in Malaysia, as it is imported from Indonesia as a CBU.
Suzuki Fronx Sport – What’s New?
The Fronx Sport primarily focuses on providing a more youthful aesthetic with an extensive body kit. At the front, key features include a blacked-out finish for the grille and the Suzuki logo. The Front Bumper Sport also gets a distinctive front bumper lower lip extension for a more dynamic appearance. The side profile is enhanced with side skirts and large ‘Fronx Sport’ decals.

Buyers also have the option to choose larger 17-inch alloy wheels. These are wrapped in 215/50R17 Continental UltraContact UC7 tyres. In comparison, the base variant of the Frontex uses 16-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in 195/60R16 tyres. At the rear, key features of the FrontX Sport include the rear diffuser and tailgate mounted spoiler. The FrontX Sport is available in two color options – a monotone Cool Black shade and dual-tone Pearl Snow White with Cool Black.
Inside, the new Front Sport variant gets front and rear 4K dashcams. Most other features remain the same as the base variant. Key features include a leather three-spoke steering wheel with shift paddles, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a tilt and telescopic steering column.

The Suzuki Fronx comes with ADAS features like blind spot monitor, adaptive cruise control, lane change assist and rear cross traffic alert. Additionally, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane departure prevention and vehicle sway warning. Standard safety features include six airbags, hill hold, high beam assist, ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability control and ISOFIX anchors.

Same hybrid powertrain
In Malaysia, the Suzuki Fronx is only offered with the K15C 1.5 liter inline-four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. Featuring an integrated starter generator the engine produces 103 PS and 138 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain is a mild hybrid setup, where the electric motor helps in engine start-stop, acceleration and improves fuel efficiency and overall smoothness. In India, the Maruti Suzuki Swift is offered with 1.2-litre petrol and 1.0-litre turbo petrol engines.

Most of the other hardware specs of the Suzuki Front Sport variant remain the same as the base variant. MacPherson struts have been used in the front of the SUV and torsion beam setup has been used in the rear. The braking setup includes a ventilated disc at the front and drum brake at the rear. The FrontX Sport weighs 1,480 kg (gross vehicle weight), the same as the base variant.
