
The latest electric car manufacturer in India, Vinfast has recently launched its second generation VF8 electric SUV and now, it has been patented in India. This could be either an IP security exercise or launch intent. If launched, it will be placed above the VF 7 as the company’s flagship offering. However, the VF 7 offers more equipment.
It should be noted that the 2nd Gen VF 8 is their first 2nd Gen model in their lineup and the rest of their portfolio is still in their 1st Gen versions. With its second generation VF8 Vinfast is also showcasing its new design future and interior layout. let’s take a closer look.

2026 VinFast VF8 Patented
Vinfast debuted in India with the launch of VF6 and VF7 and recently, Vinfast launched VF MPV7 at a price of Rs 24.49 lakh (ex-sh). Now, Vinfast may launch the VF 8 in India, as revealed by a recent design patent. The new model is smaller in size and has a smaller battery and comes only with a FWD layout.
The design is the main talking point of the 2026 WinFast VF8 as it ushers in the company’s more modern design language. A more attractive fascia, full-width wing-shaped LED DRLs with the VinFast logo in the middle, large gloss black grille and other features are worth mentioning. The rear design of the VF8 featured connected LED tail lights and a large black appliqué with a V emblem.

The 19-inch aero wheel design, semi-flush door handles, some chrome highlights on the window line and other features are notable. While the previous model had an elegant flair, the new model brings sportiness into the equation.
In terms of dimensions, the new gen VinFast VF8 measures 4,701 mm in length, 1,872 mm in width, 1,670 mm in height and has a 2,840 mm long wheelbase and 170 mm ground clearance. Which is 49 mm shorter in length, 62 mm shorter in width and 110 mm shorter in wheelbase. Height has increased by 3 mm and ground clearance by 8 mm with the new model.

what to expect?
The 2026 VinFast VF8 gets a complete interior redesign. Taking center stage is the infotainment screen, which has been moved to a 12.9-inch unit and the number of speakers has also been reduced. The new model has no panoramic sunroof, which was found in the previous model in some markets.
Additionally there is a TFT driver’s instrument cluster and VinFast has introduced a new steering wheel in the second generation VF8. The gear selector resides in the steering column. Notable features include ADAS, dual-zone climate control, memory function for the driver’s seat, 360-degree cameras, and more.

The 2nd Gen Vinfast VF 8 gets a smaller 60.13 kWh battery pack that promises a range of 500 km. In comparison, the previous model offered an 87.7 kWh battery option with a 562 km range. Additionally, the previous model also offered an AWD option, which the new VF 8 does not have. As said, the new 2nd gen model has 228 bhp and 330 Nm with the FWD model, which is 18 bhp and 20 Nm more.
