
Toyota Kirloskar Motor reported domestic sales of 30,586 units in May 2026, registering a growth of 4.46% compared to 29,280 units sold in May 2025. On a month-on-month basis, sales grew 1.42% from 30,159 units recorded in April 2026. SUVs and MPVs continued to dominate Toyota’s portfolio, which included the Urban Cruiser Hyderabad and Innova HighCross. Contributing to more than half of the company’s total sales during the month. Toyota’s recently launched Abella Electric also made its first appearance on the sales charts.

The Urban Cruiser remained Hyderabad Toyota’s best-selling model with sales of 8,664 units in May 2026. Sales improved by 14.41% compared to 7,573 units sold in May 2025. However, compared to April 2026, sales declined by 4.95% to 9,115 units. Hyderabad’s share in Toyota’s total sales during the month was 28.33%.

Innova Hicross took the second position with sales of 6,722 units. The premium MPV registered a healthy growth of 28.21% year-on-year as compared to 5,243 units sold a year ago. On a month-on-month basis, sales increased by 19.99% from 5,602 units sold in April 2026. Combined, the Hyundai and HiCross contributed 15,386 units, more than 50% of Toyota’s total volume.
Innova Crysta sales stood at 3,603 units, slightly lower than 3,639 units sold in May 2025. MPV witnessed a decline of 0.99% YoY and 10.55% MoM. Glanza recorded sales of 3,198 units, down 32.72% from 4,753 units sold in May last year. Sales declined by 4.82% on a monthly basis.

Fortuner continued its strong performance with sales of 2,905 units. The premium SUV registered a growth of 12.99% year-on-year and an impressive growth of 28.94% compared to April 2026. Taser contributed 2,496 units during the month, down 17.76% year-on-year. Rumian recorded sales of 2,119 units, which is 10.54% better than May 2025, although a decline of 18.03% compared to April 2026.
Hilux, Vellfire and LC300 register strong growth
Hilux sales increased to 414 units, registering a growth of 28.57% as compared to 322 units sold in May 2025. Month-on-month sales improved by 36.18%. Camry sales remained broadly steady at 192 units, down slightly from 198 units sold a year ago. Among Toyota’s luxury offerings, the Vellfire saw the highest year-on-year growth. Sales increased from only 29 units sold in May 2025 to 164 units, an increase of 465.52%. Sales grew 38.98% on a monthly basis. The Land Cruiser 300 contributed 97 units in May 2026, more than double the 45 units sold in April.
Abella debuts in sales charts
Toyota’s first electric car in India, Abella recorded sales of 12 units in its first month on the sales charts. Although volumes remain small at this stage, this model marks Toyota’s entry into a new segment and is expected to gradually gain momentum over the coming months.
