After a significant move that is long overdue, Toyota has finally launched its first fully electric SUV for the mainstream market in India. It is a badge-engineered version of the Maruti Suzuki Evitara and is manufactured by Maruti Suzuki at its Gujarat plant. Unlike the Evitara, the Toyota Abella has been launched only in a fully-loaded version.

Called the E3, the top-spec variant is priced at Rs 23.60 lakh (ex-sh) and prices for the lower trims (E1 and E2) are yet to be announced. Toyota has also launched a BaaS pricing model for Abella at Rs 15.25 lakh + Rs 4.99 per km.

Toyota Abella BaaS Prices

Right now, Toyota has announced the BaaS pricing model on its marketing blurb and not in the price list. Also, there is no mention of whether this is for the top-spec E3 variant or not, which is highly likely. If the BaaS pricing model is chosen then the advertised price is Rs 15.25 lakh + Rs 4.99 per km.

For reference, the Maruti Suzuki Evitara top-spec Alpha trim has been launched at Rs 20.01 lakh (ex-sh) without the BaaS pricing model and Rs 14.51 lakh + Rs 4.39 per km battery rental charge. This makes the Toyota Abella ex-Sh by Rs 3.59 lakh more expensive with ex-Sh pricing, Rs 74,000 more expensive with BaaS pricing and Rs 0.6 per km more expensive with battery rental.

In terms of equipment, both the Evitara Alfa and Abella E3 are similar as they are badge-engineered versions of the same vehicle and trim. While the Evitara has more features like LED fog lights, the Abella has a more premium and aesthetically pleasing design, which may attract buyers away from the Evitara.

The prices of lower trims of Toyota Abella like E1 and E2 may be decided soon. Both those trims may also get BaaS pricing models. For reference, the Maruti Suzuki Evitara is priced starting at Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-sh) for the base Delta trim, while the mid-spec Zeta trim is priced at Rs 17.49 lakh (ex-sh). Considering the premium of Rs 3.59 lakh with the Abella E3, one can expect premium pricing with the E2 and E1.
