Hybrid vehicles are nothing new, but have been gaining more prominence in recent times. We’re talking about true plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), not self-charging systems with small batteries. JSW Motors and JSW MG Motor India are two players that are planning to launch mainstream PHEVs in India soon.
Now, there is a new PHEV that has been patented in India. It is a large full-size luxury hybrid SUV with a total range of 1,226 km. It is called Adamas from a Chinese startup brand called Rocks Motor, which has close ties with tech giants like Xiaomi. There is no confirmation whether the Rocks 01 will launch in India under Rocks Motors or any other brand. Anyhow, here’s a closer look.

Rox 01 is patented in India
Currently, Rocks Motors has two vehicles available. Called the Rocks 01 and Adamas, both appear to be the same base vehicle, but are intended for different markets with slight variations in design. The vehicle patented in India has Rocks Adamas wheels and bumpers, but has the same LiDAR bulb at the top of its windshield as only the Rocks 01. Additionally, the badge at the rear reads 01.

The Rocks 01 is a full-size SUV with a length of 5,298 mm, width of 1,985 mm, height of 1,856 mm and a wheelbase of 3,010 mm long. Minimum ground clearance is 272 mm and battery ground clearance is 324 mm. The maximum depth of entry into the water is 770 mm. The wheel size is standard 21-inch and the tires are chunky at 275 section.

As far as design is concerned, the Roux 01 is a boxy SUV with textbook traditional SUV proportions. At the front, we can see a prominent fascia with traditional headlight positioning along with integrated DRLs and a large grille. The roof line and window line are straight like a ruler. The door handles are conventional, the tailgate is side hinged and there is a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.
