
Mercedes-Benz India will bring back the CLA Class in India, albeit only in electric form. In Merc’s India lineup, the CLA EV will replace three existing offerings – the A-Class limousine as well as the EQA and EQB electric SUVs. The launch timeline of this much-awaited sedan has now been revealed. let’s take a closer look.
Mercedes CLA EV India Launch Timeline
Following the discontinuation of the CLA Class from the Indian market in 2020, there was a void left in the lineup for a sexy midsize sedan with frameless doors. Mercedes-Benz India launched the A-Class Limousine to fill those shoes, but it lacked the CLA Class’s frameless doors and its unmatched appeal.

Now, Mercedes-Benz will relaunch the CLA in India in a fully electric form. The launch timeline is confirmed to be April 2026 and it is one of the most awaited cars from the Three Pointed Star. When launched, the CLA EV will replace the A-Class limousine along with the EQA and EQB electric SUVs from Merc’s India lineup.
The new CLA EV looks great with its shapely body and design language. The frameless doors make a big visual impact and its aerodynamic silhouette continues to look beautiful. The front fascia is dominated by a closed grille with a large Mercedes badge, flanked by a cluster of smaller Mercedes badges. All illuminated.

The LED headlights get three-pointed-star shaped LED DRLs and a unique three-pointed-star signature can also be seen in its LED tail lights. This time both headlights and taillights are connected. Wheel sizes range between 17-inch and 19-inch, depending on which variant Merc will launch the CLA EV in India.

On the inside, we can see a 14-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch instrument cluster running the latest MBUX system on the dashboard. A third 14-inch co-driver screen is optional. The steering wheel is similar to the 2027 S-Class. The CLA EV can be equipped with a 16-speaker Burmester sound system as an option, while level-2 ADAS, 8 airbags, 360 cameras and other features could be standard fitment.

Mercedes-Benz India has not yet revealed the battery specifications of the upcoming CLA EV. However, the global model gets two variants and both come with a larger 85 kWh battery pack. India may only get the lower-spec CLA 250+ variant with 268 bhp, 335 Nm and a range of up to 729 km with a single motor RWD configuration.

Now that we are talking about numbers, the Mercedes-Benz CLA EV measures 4,723 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, 1,468 mm in height and has a 2,790 mm long wheelbase. It will have a frunk of approximately 101L and the rear boot will provide approximately 405L of cargo volume.
