When and who started the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Karj Mafi Scheme?
This scheme was started in the month of December 2019 by the current Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shiv Sena representative Uddhav Thackeray. With the help of which, the work of waiving the loans of the farmers of Maharashtra who started farming by taking loans from the year 2014 to the year 2019 and their crops got destroyed has been done.
Up to what amount of loans were waived:-
Under this scheme, the loans of those farmers of Maharashtra were waived who have less than 5 acres of land and have a loan outstanding of up to 2 lakhs from the bank.
Why was there a need to bring this plan ?
The Maharashtra government felt the need to bring this scheme because many farmers of Maharashtra started taking steps like suicide, migration and abandoning farming due to the fear of debt, due to which the government had to bring this scheme for the public. After the introduction of this scheme, the farmers of Maharashtra have got a lot of relief and even if their crops are damaged due to any disaster, then the worry of anything does not let them move towards any wrong step.
Cool budget of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Karj Mafi?
The Maharashtra government has presented a total budget of Rs 34,000 crore for this scheme, under which loans up to Rs 2 lakh of small farmers are waived. Since the introduction of this scheme, the Uddhav Thackeray government has waived the loans of about 85 lakh farmers and provided them relief.

If you want to become a beneficiary of this scheme, you can apply both online and offline. For offline application, you have to go to a cafe near you and submit the required documents and they will complete your work by taking some money and if you want to take it online, then you can apply by visiting a branch of a government bank or CSC.
