Domestic LPG (LPG) has become expensive again. The price of LPG has been increased by Rs 29 per cylinder which will be effective from June 7. This is the second increase in three months. Iran crisis is behind this. It has been told that government fuel retailers are having to struggle with rising global energy prices.
According to news agency PTI, sources have revealed that from June 7, the price of 14.2 kg LPG cylinder in Delhi will increase from Rs 913 to Rs 942.
Earlier, an increase of Rs 60 per cylinder was made on March 7, when the global energy supply was disrupted due to conflict in West Asia and international fuel prices increased.
Industry sources argue that the previous increase had only partially compensated for the loss on domestic LPG sales. Before the recent change, government oil marketing companies were incurring a loss of about Rs 703 on every LPG cylinder sold.
Commercial LPG cylinder also became expensive this month
On June 1 itself, there was a huge increase in the prices of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder. Commercial cylinder in Delhi has become costlier by Rs 42 and now it costs Rs 3113.50. Whereas in Kolkata its price increased by Rs 53.50 to Rs 3255.50. Not only this, the price of 5 kg FTL cylinder used by small traders and citizens was also increased by Rs 11. This small cylinder is now available in Delhi at a new rate of Rs 821.50.
Petrol and diesel have already become costlier by seven rupees.
This increase in LPG prices has come amid a massive increase in oil prices.
Since May, the prices of petrol and diesel have increased by a total of Rs 7.50 per liter, while the rates of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) have increased by about Rs 6 per kg.
According to industry sources, despite the recent increase, oil companies are selling petrol and diesel below cost, due to which they are incurring a loss of about Rs 11 per liter on petrol and Rs 33.6 per liter on diesel.
