
In the compact SUV segment, Hyundai’s Venue as well as Aura compact sedan played a major role in helping the company register its highest ever monthly sales.
Hyundai India has recorded its highest ever monthly sales in India with total sales of 59,107 units. This was an increase of 9% year-on-year while month-on-month sales ended with a decline of 39%. Currently with 13.1% market share, Hyundai is now looking forward to the 2027 Creta which is currently under testing.
Hyundai Sales Breakup – January 2026
Hyundai reported the Creta as its best-selling model with record domestic sales of 59,107 units in January 2026, while it also topped the mid-size SUV segment, ahead of the Victoris, Seltos and Hyder. Creta sales declined 3% year-on-year to 17,921 units, while it performed better on a month-on-month basis with a 36% improvement from 13,154 units sold in December 2025. Hyundai has started testing the new generation Creta in South Korea.

The Hyundai Venue compact SUV was in high demand with sales of 12,413 units last month. This was a 12% YoY and 20% MoM growth compared to 11,106 units and 10,322 units sold in January 2025 and December 2025, respectively. Hyundai Aura also continued to attract buyers in the compact sedan segment with sales of 7,978 units, which was a growth of 48% year-on-year and 62% growth in its MoM sales. Both Venue and Aura recorded their highest ever monthly sales last month.
Hyundai Grand i10 with sales of 7,710 units and last month the company sold 5,677 units of i20 which also saw double digit growth. With the Hyundai Exeter facelift, sales of Hyundai’s smallest SUV declined by 7% to 5,621 units from 6,068 units year-on-year.

Alcazar, Verna, Ionic 5
At the bottom of the list was the 3-row mid-size SUV Alcazar, which sold 962 units last month. While sales declined 27% year-on-year, it produced strong numbers on a MoM basis with a growth of 66% compared to 579 units sold in December 2025. It was a similar experience in terms of sales of the Verna. Sales fell 44% year-on-year to 823 units in January 2026, compared to 406 units sold in December 2025, a healthy growth of 103%.
The premium electric vehicle Hyundai Ioniq5 has seen a sharp decline in sales. The company sold only 2 units in the domestic markets last month, registering a decline of 88% YoY, while MoM sales fell by 97%. Hyundai is now expected to expand its portfolio with cars like Verna facelift, Exeter facelift, Genesis and many more during 2026.
