The world’s leading car manufacturer, BYD (Build Your Dreams) has just announced a price hike for the Indian market. It is said that the price increase will be implemented in the coming months, starting from July 1, 2026. The company is increasing the current prices for buyers who book in May 2026 and June 2026. Let’s take a closer look.

BYD price hike July 2026

BYD Global’s direct subsidiary, BYD India, currently offers four vehicles in its portfolio. The range starts with the Atto 3 SUV, followed by the eMax 7 MPV, Celeron sedan and Celeron 7 SUV. There will be a price increase soon for all these four premium electric vehicles, which will be effective from July 1, 2026.

BYD has not mentioned the exact price hike with each model, but has announced that the hike will be between 1% to 2% depending on the model and its variants. Currently, BYD India’s portfolio starts at Rs 24.99 lakh for the Atto 3, Rs 26.9 lakh for the eMax 7, Rs 41 lakh for the Sealion and Rs 49.4 lakh for the Sealion 7 (all prices ex-sh).

Since there is still some time left for the revised prices to come into effect, BYD is extending these existing prices to buyers who are booking their BYD vehicle in the months of May 2026 or June 2026. However, these current prices will be applicable only if the buyer also takes delivery of his booked BYD vehicles by July 1, 2026.

According to BYD India, this price increase is a direct result of constant fluctuations in foreign exchange rates. At the time of writing this article, BYD India operates 48 dealerships across 40 cities, providing integrated sales and service across the country.

What next?

It is to be noted that BYD India has increased the prices of its flagship Sealion 7 from January 1, 2026 as the company celebrates the sales milestone of 2,000 units of this vehicle. Then the anniversary edition of Sealion 7 was also launched in the country. A recall with the BYD seal was also issued in the country.

The company is also expanding its Indian portfolio to include the BYD Atto 2, which has been spotted testing in the country several times. BYD may opt for local assembly through CKD kits for the Atto 2 and hence homologation and certification is required. An India-specific vehicle has also been confirmed to be under development.

BYD India statement

Mr. Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicle (EPV) Business at BYD India, said, “This price revision is in response to foreign exchange fluctuations. Even in a challenging market environment, BYD India remains focused on providing high value, advanced, safe and premium electric mobility solutions to customers.
