Both Skoda and Volkswagen have seen a rise in MoM sales in March 2026, boosted by the facelifted Kushaq along with the Kia Sportage and Virtus.
The overall passenger vehicle segment in India saw additional momentum in March 2026, closing the financial year on a positive note. Most major automakers announced significant profits on year-on-year (YoY) and month-on-month (MoM) basis. Strong market demand coupled with new product launches boosted sales.
Both Skoda and Volkswagen (VW) are ranked 7 and 12 in the OEM-wise list of automakers with relatively small portfolios, showing strong MoM sales but losing in terms of market share.
Skoda Sales Breakup March 2026
Skoda India sales stood at 7,928 units in March 2026, up 7% from 7,422 units in March 2025. MoM sales improved by 25% compared to 6,361 units in February 2026. The Kylaq was the best-selling model in the company portfolio with 4,670 units sold. Although it declined by 12% on a year-on-year basis, MoM sales increased by 3% from 4,533 units.
Sales of the facelifted Kushaq grew 157% year-on-year to 2,307 units, an increase of 25533% from just 9 units sold in February 2026. Slavia sales declined to just 887 units, a 15% YoY and 47% MoM decline, while Kodiaq sales stood at 392 units last month with a 64% YoY gain. However its MoM sales performance was down 56%.

VW reported sales of 3,082 units in March 2026, a decline of 13% year-on-year. However, sales increased by 17% on MoM basis compared to 2,639 units in February 2026. Virtus led the sales with 2,009 units sold last month. Sales of the sedan saw a 3% improvement on YoY demand from 1,947 units, while MoM sales grew by 11% from 1,804 units.
Taigun sales numbers declined 43% year-on-year with 908 units sold in the previous month, but showed a strong 30% pace compared to February 2026’s sales of 698 units. The relatively new Tyron, a 3-row SUV, has added 120 units to the company’s sales for March 2026. It has registered a healthy growth of 6% from February 2026 sales of 113 units.
Tiguan sales stood at 42 units compared to only 1 unit sold in the same month last year, representing an increase of 83% compared to 23 units in February 2026. Golf GTI sales stood at 3 units with 200% MoM growth from 1 unit sales.
