India’s sub-4 meter SUV segment saw strong demand in June 2026, although sales remained down on a month-on-month basis. Total dispatches stood at 1,10,161 units, registering a healthy growth of 34.89% as compared to 81,665 units sold in June 2025. However, volumes declined by 6.56%, a decline of 7,728 units, compared to 1,17,889 units sold in May 2026.
Sub 4 meter SUV sales June 2026
Tata Motors occupied the top two spots in the segment with both the Punch and Nexon. The Punch registered 21,006 units, a growth of 101.09% year-on-year, making it the only model to cross the 20,000-unit mark. This improved slightly compared to sales of 20,208 units in May 2026, and ended the month with a segment-leading 19.07% market share. Nexon registered 58.03% YoY growth with 18,335 units. However, compared to May’s 19,100 units, sales declined by more than 4%.
Maruti Suzuki completed the podium with 13,135 units. Although it grew by 33.83% year-on-year, it saw the sharpest sequential decline, falling from 20,686 units in May to 13,135 units in June. Despite a month-on-month decline of 8%, Hyundai Venue took the fourth position with 10,776 units, a growth of 57.13% year-on-year.
Mahindra XUV3XO continued its upward trend and registered the strongest MoM profit in the segment. Sales increased from 6,717 units in May to 10,063 units in June, translating into nearly 50% month-on-month growth and 41.95% year-on-year growth. Kia Sonet stood at sixth position with 9,231 units, while Hyundai Exeter recorded 8,154 units, registering a 23.64% MoM improvement.
Maruti Brezza sales declined to 9,939 units in June 2026, down 31.49% from 14,507 units a year ago. Even on a month-on-month basis, sales declined by nearly 26%, with volumes falling by 3,486 units compared to May. The drop comes as Maruti Suzuki prepares to launch the facelifted Brezza on July 24. Many dealerships have reportedly liquidated the stock of the existing model and have started accepting unofficial bookings for the updated SUV.
Kilak, Magnite, Kiger at the bottom
Skoda Kailak reported 4,039 units, which improved year-on-year and month-on-month. Since its launch, Kylaq has established itself among the better performing new entrants in this segment. The Toyota Taisse recorded 2,483 units, while the Nissan Magnite managed 1,167 units, down more than 11% year-on-year. Renault Kiger remained under pressure with 689 units, although it registered a marginal increase month-on-month. Maruti Jimny closed the list with 354 units, while Kia Ciros reported 790 units.
Q2 2026 Sales – Punch extends lead
For the April-June 2026 quarter, the sub-4 meter SUV segment recorded cumulative sales of 3,47,194 units, up 22.48% from 2,83,476 units sold during the same period last year. The Punch once again led the segment with 60,321 units, followed by the Nexon with 55,561 units and the Bronx with 52,650 units.
Brezza slipped to fourth place with 37,488 units, which saw a decline of 20.31% compared to Q2 2025. Venue remained in the top five with 34,910 units, ahead of Sonet with 29,475 units. Among new products, XUV3XO posted 24,297 units, while Exeter recorded 22,845 units during the quarter. The Skoda Kailash ended the second quarter with 11,571 units, ahead of the Toyota Taisse (7,529 units), Nissan Magnite (4,607 units), Kia Ciros (2,305 units), Renault Kiger (2,072 units) and Maruti Jimny (1,563 units).
