After the successful completion of the ODI Tri-Nation series in Sri Lanka, the India A team is now focusing on red ball cricket. As part of the two-match series, the first four-day unofficial Test match between India A and Sri Lanka A begins tomorrow (June 25) at the Galle International Stadium.
The India A team is led by wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel. It is a momentous occasion for Jurel, who has impressed with his consistent performances at domestic and international level recently. Devdutt Padikkal will play the role of vice-captain of the team.
The India A team performed brilliantly in the recently concluded Tri-Nation ‘A’ series. In the final they defeated Sri Lanka by 66 runs and won the trophy. That victory boosted the team’s confidence. Now India A aims to continue the same momentum in the four-day format as well.
Since the Galle pitch generally favors spinners, it is likely to be a tough test for the batsmen. On the other hand, Sri Lanka-A team playing on home ground is also preparing to show resistance.
While the first match will be held from tomorrow to 28th July, the second match will be held at Galle Ground from 2nd to 5th July.
