With the launch of the new Tiago, it was only a matter of time that Tata Motors revamped its sibling Tigor as well. Ahead of its official debut, the company has patented the design of the 2026 Tigor facelift, giving a clear look at the exterior changes planned for the compact sedan.
The patent images reveal that the refreshed Tigor will closely match the design language introduced in the recently launched Tiago facelift. The updated Tigor is expected to arrive in both ICE and EV guises later this year, possibly after the launch of the Sierra EV on June 30. The facelift could help Tata strengthen its position in the segment which is witnessing a decline in volumes as buyers increasingly turn to SUVs.

2026 Tata Tigor facelift – What do the patent images reveal?
Patent drawings reveal a significantly modified front fascia. Similar to the new Tiago, the facelifted Tigor gets a cleaner and more modern look with slimmer headlamp units connected to a gloss black trim element across the width of the nose. The grille appears to be completely integrated into the fascia, creating a more seamless appearance.
The front bumper has also been redesigned. It now features a wider lower air intake with horizontal slats and vertically positioned housings on either side, possibly to accommodate fog lamps or additional lighting elements. The patent images also reveal a front camera placed below the Tata logo, hinting at the addition of a 360-degree camera system.

Viewed from the side, the overall silhouette remains familiar. The compact sedan continues with its notchback profile, while the fresh alloy wheel designs add some visual distinctiveness. The ORVMs appear to have integrated cameras, which suggests that a surround-view monitoring system may be offered in higher variants.

At the rear, the Tigor facelift gets revised tail lamp signature joined by a thin horizontal bar. The bumper design has been simplified and now looks cleaner than before. Rear parking sensors and a centrally located reverse lamp housing can also be seen in the patent images.
Internal update required
While the patent filing only shows the exterior, the cabin is expected to borrow heavily from the Tiago facelift. Tata may introduce a revised dashboard layout that will feature a larger floating touchscreen infotainment system and a new digital instrument cluster.

Feature additions are expected to include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, auto-folding ORVMs, Type-C charging port, and a 360-degree camera. Safety equipment may also see an upgrade, with six airbags likely to be offered as standard across the range, similar to Tata’s recent launches. The Tigor EV is expected to receive similar cosmetic and feature upgrades along with EV-specific styling elements like a closed-top grille and unique wheel designs.
Powertrain options to continue
Mechanically, the facelifted Tigor is expected to retain the existing powertrain lineup. This includes a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 86 PS and a CNG version producing around 75 PS. Both options are likely to continue with 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options.

Reports suggest that Tata may introduce paddle shifters with the AMT-equipped variants, a feature that has been seen in some of its updated models recently. The Tigor EV is expected to continue with the same battery and motor options as the Tiago EV. These may include 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh battery packs, although range figures may vary slightly due to the sedan body style.
Will facelift increase sedan sales?
The update comes at a time when sales of compact sedans continue to be pressured by similarly priced SUVs. While the Tigor remains one of the few affordable sedan options in the market, demand in the segment has gradually declined over the years.

With a sharper design, improved feature list and updated technology, Tata Motors hopes the facelift will help attract buyers looking for a practical and value-focused sedan option. There is expected to be a slight revision in price compared to the existing model, which is currently positioned as one of the most affordable sedans in India.
