New Kia Sonet reveals more about its lighting signature
The latest Sonet test model appears to be the same QY2E development prototype that was first spotted earlier this month. However, these new images reveal more details about the rear lighting setup.

Despite the heavy camouflage, the SUV can be seen featuring vertically-oriented LED tail lamp elements connected to the full-width light bar. The lighting pattern appears to be more sophisticated than the current Sonet and aligns with Kia’s latest global design language seen on the new international models.

The overall silhouette remains straight, but the rear appears more square. A flat roof profile and more vertical tailgate could help improve practicality while giving the SUV strong road presence. Based on the looks, the new Sonet is expected to be based on Kia’s new K1 platform, which is already based on the Syros. This platform is expected to improve structural rigidity, safety and packaging efficiency. India NCAP is also expected to show a strong performance.

Feature upgrades may include larger displays, an updated ADAS suite, more advanced electronic architectures capable of supporting advanced connected car technology and expanded OTA functionality. Engine options are expected to continue with the existing 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel powertrains.

The latest test vehicle continues to wear extensive camouflage, but some key details are visible. The stance of the SUV appears to be more upright and boxier than the current Creta. The larger proportions and redesigned front fascia are also evident.

One of the most significant upgrades Hyundai is expecting with the new Creta is Next Generation Plios Connect System. Earlier spy shots had revealed a larger centrally-mounted display that will replace the traditional dual-screen setup currently seen in Hyundai vehicles.
