Maruti Suzuki is working on a facelift for its tried and tested sub 4 meter SUV, the Brezza. With consistent sales and a loyal fan following, the Brezza has emerged as one of India’s best-selling SUVs (across all sizes and price segments). Facelifted test mules with revised front and rear have been spotted testing earlier too.
However, the latest spy shots attributed to automotive enthusiast Hardik N, who spotted it on the Western Peripheral Expressway near Delhi, shows the Brezza facelift undergoing emissions testing. This development suggests that Maruti Suzuki may work on a 1.2 liter NA petrol or 1.0 liter turbo petrol engine with the Brezza for the B segment RTO tax bracket. let’s take a closer look.

brezza facelift emissions test
Cylinder position updates are unlikely to require emissions testing as the engine tuning will remain more or less the same. However, the emissions test setup appears to be on the latest Brezza facelift test mule. This suggests that a new powertrain is being optimized for the structure, weight and overall setup of the Brezza.
Ever since the Vitara Brezza (now Brezza) diesel was discontinued in 2020, Maruti Suzuki has been using only the 1.5L 4-cylinder NA petrol engine with this SUV. This engine ensures that the Brezza misses out on the B segment tax benefits, which mandate that petrol engines have a displacement of less than 1.2 liters and diesel engines have a displacement of less than 1.5 liters.

The 1.2L NA petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol engine options are quite common in the B segment sub 4m SUV space and Maruti Suzuki has both available. With either (or both) of these engines, the Maruti Brezza facelift could have a more attractive entry price with lower B segment RTO taxes.
The fate of the 1.5L NA petrol unit, currently offered in pure petrol or petrol + CNG format, will be uncertain if this test model is actually powered by the 1.2L NA petrol or 1.0L turbo petrol. This time the CNG variant is expected to get an update with underbody CNG tank. A similar setup debuted with the Victoris SUV.

Revised aesthetics!
As far as design is concerned, the 2026 Maruti Brezza facelift gets small nips and tucks here and there to further enhance its aesthetics. In that regard, we can see a revised upper grille that looks much cleaner than the current one, while the headlight assembly seems to have been moved forward. In the middle, there appears to be a radar housing for ADAS.
Below this, we can see a revised bumper with triangular-shaped fog light housings, as well as a thick bull bar-like element in silver finish and a silver faux skid plate. The wheels are new and look like they are 16-inchers. Also, the rear still gets drum brakes, not disc. The rear looks almost indistinguishable on the facelift compared to the current model.
