Kia India is keen to expand its ICE portfolio in the country. Currently, Kia’s flagship SUV in India is the Seltos, which may change soon as the company has started road testing the Sorento in the country. The first set of road test spy shots came in April 2026 and the Kia Sorento has again been spotted testing on public roads. let’s take a closer look.
Kia Sorento spotted testing again
When launched, the Kia Sorento will compete with similar large monocoque 7-seater SUVs like the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Teron, Jeep Meridian and the like. In terms of pricing, the Kia Sorento also needs to take on traditional ladder-frame SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner and MG Magister, which are expected to be launched soon.

These latest spy shots were posted by Moto$apian in one of the Team-BHP threads and mentioned that it was spied on NH-8 Delhi. This particular test mule had red temporary registration plates from the Pimpri-Chinchwad RTP of Pune city, Maharashtra. These spy photos show the upcoming Sorento from the front and rear.
It was camouflaged throughout its length, leaving nothing to the imagination. However, the Sorento’s stance, size and road presence are unmistakable. It will get a large tiger nose grille, conventional door handles, large 19-inch alloys with 235-section tires (suggested by the first set of spy shots in India in a parking lot), attractive headlight and tail light signatures and more.

what to expect?
Dimension-wise, the Kia Sorento measures 4,815 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, 1,700 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,815 mm long. Ground clearance is around 175 mm globally, which may change for India-specific models. When launched, the Kia Sorento will be the brand’s first three-row SUV in India.
Inside, the Kia Sorento in India may offer 2+2+2 with captain seats or 2+3+2 with bench seating layout, a well-crafted dashboard and center console, soft touch materials for a premium vibe, Bose premium audio system, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, multi-zone climate control, electronic parking brake and more. Level-2 ADAS will also be present with many autonomous features.

The Kia Sorento launch is anticipated to take place in 2026 with a strong push towards electrified powertrains. To that end, we can expect the India-spec Kia Sorento to come with either a self-charging hybrid with electric propulsion or a full-fat plug-in hybrid powertrain setup. The chances of a pure petrol engine are slim and the chances of a diesel are still less.
