
Electric 2W sales crossed 1.48 lakh units in April 2026, registering a strong growth of 60.73% YoY despite seasonal MoM decline.
India’s electric two-wheeler segment witnessed strong growth in April 2026. Total sales stood at 1,48,740 units, registering a healthy growth of 60.73% as compared to 92,538 units sold in April 2025. However, on a month-on-month (MoM) basis, sales declined by 22.15% compared to 1,91,067 units sold in March 2026, which is largely being seen as a seasonal improvement after the financial year-end rush.
Electric two-wheelers achieved 7.8% share of the overall two-wheeler market in April 2026, significantly higher than the 5.5% share in April 2025. Even though the market share declined to 9.8% in March 2026, the overall trend indicates increasing acceptance of electric mobility in urban as well as semi-urban markets.
Electric 2W Sale April 2026
TVS Motor retained its number 1 position in the electric two wheeler segment with sales of 37,683 units last month. The company recorded an impressive growth of 88.64% year-on-year as compared to 19,976 units sold in April 2025. Market share stood at 25.33%. However, on MoM basis, sales declined by 23.62% compared to 49,335 units sold in March 2026. TVS is benefiting from strong demand for its iQube electric scooter lineup.

Bajaj Auto stood second with sales of 32,898 units of its Chetak electric scooter range. Bajaj reported a YoY growth of 71.68% compared to 19,162 units sold last year, although sales declined by 28.90% compared to March 2026. The company’s market share in April 2026 was 22.12%.
Ather Energy took the third position with sales of 27,034 units, crossing the 18% market share mark. The company recorded a strong YoY growth of 102.78% from 13,332 units sold in April 2025. On MoM basis, Ether sales fell 24.35%. Hero MotoCorp’s VIDA electric scooter business recorded the strongest annual growth numbers among major OEMs. VIDA sales stood at 15,238 units, up 147.77% from 6,150 units sold last year. However MoM sales declined by 28.95%.

Ola Electric MOM growth amid YoY decline
Ola Electric remained at fifth position with sales of 12,171 units in April 2026. The company was the only major OEM to register positive MoM growth, with sales growing 20.29% compared to 10,118 units sold in March 2026. However, on a year-on-year basis, Ola’s sales declined by a massive 38.60% from 19,824 units sold in April 2025. Market share also fell to 8.18%.
Greaves amps recorded sales of 71.97% YoY growth at 6,884 units, while River Mobility recorded the highest percentage gain in the segment with sales growing by 301.88% YoY at 3,199 units. BGauss also recorded a strong growth of 133.51% YoY with sales of 3,066 units. Other OEMs collectively contributed 10,567 units to the total electric two-wheeler sales, up 32.39% YoY but down 14.54% MoM.
The outlook for the electric two wheeler segment remains positive for the coming months. Continued product launches, improved charging infrastructure, expanding dealership network and rising fuel prices are expected to support strong EV adoption across the country.
