
2W Retail Sales February 2026 – Hero leads with 25% YoY growth in sales, Honda lags behind
In the previous article, we discussed last month’s car retail sales. Now, let’s take a look at two-wheeler retail sales (from dealer to customer), which have recorded strong growth in February 2026. Total sales stood at 17,00,505 units, registering a growth of 25.02% year-on-year as compared to 13,60,155 units sold in February 2025.
However, on a month-on-month basis, sales declined by 8.22% to 18,52,870 units in January 2026, indicating a slowdown after a strong start to the year. Year-on-year performance was positive. Between April 2025 and February 2026, total two-wheeler retail sales reached 1,94,58,477 units, a growth of 12% compared to 1,73,73,374 units sold during the same period last year.

Two-wheelers running on petrol and ethanol continued to dominate the market with 93.34% share in February 2026, though slightly lower than the 94.06% recorded in February 2025. The share of electric two-wheelers stood at 6.57%, which is better than 5.64% last year. CNG and LPG powered models remained on top with 0.09% share. The growth in EV share reflects the growing awareness of consumers and the increasing number of electric two-wheeler models entering the market.
2W Retail Sales February 2026
Among manufacturers, Hero MotoCorp retained the top position with sales of 4,57,826 units in February 2026. This represents a growth of 18.39% compared to 3,86,703 units sold during the same period last year. Honda stood second with 4,31,253 units as compared to 3,29,857 units in February 2025, registering a strong growth of 30.74%. TVS Motor took the third position with 3,33,935 units, showing a growth of 31.16% from 2,54,599 units last year.

Bajaj Auto ranked fourth with 1,80,846 units, while Suzuki Motorcycle India posted 94,398 units, a YoY growth of 22.13%. Royal Enfield continued its steady performance with sales at 91,216 units, up 26.73% YoY. The brand’s growth is being supported by strong demand for its sub-350cc motorcycles. Yamaha Motor India recorded 60,967 units, showing a growth of 31.60% compared to 46,327 units sold in February 2025.

Electric 2W Retail Sales February 2026
Among electric two-wheeler brands, Ather Energy recorded strong growth with 20,584 units, up 71.85% from 11,978 units in February 2025. Greaves Electric (Ampere) recorded 4,724 units, while Ola Electric continues to face a decline in sales. Retail numbers declined to 3,968 units, a steep decline of 54.26% from 8,675 units recorded in February 2025. Bengaluru-based EV startup River Mobility continued to gain traction by recording 2,255 units, a sharp increase from 613 units sold in February 2025.

Retail sales of Classic Legends (Java, Yezdi and BSA) grew sharply to 4,468 units, almost double from last year’s 2,350 units. Meanwhile, Piaggio (Aprilia/Vespa) recorded 2,867 units, while Begos recorded 2,411 units, almost double the sales compared to last year. Other two-wheeler manufacturers collectively contributed 8,787 units to the total retail number.
Overall, most manufacturers saw strong growth in February 2026, with conventional ICE models dominating the market, while EVs are gradually increasing their share.
