If there is one SUV in India that almost everyone instantly recognizes, it is the Toyota Fortuner. This large ladder-frame SUV has built a strong reputation for ruggedness, reliability and off-road capability. Currently sold in its second-generation facelifted avatar, the Fortuner is now set to get a major update in 2026.

Test mules of the 2026 Toyota Fortuner have already been spied abroad, hinting at a significant facelift along with a more feature-packed offering than the current model. Based on these spy shots and patent leaks, rendering artist Pratyush Raut has digitally created what the updated SUV could look like. let’s take a closer look.

Rendering of the 2026 Toyota Fortuner
The expected fascia of the upcoming 2026 Fortuner was revealed along with the 2026 Hilux Travo. We can see the same thing in these renders also. The straight and high-set bonnet exudes muscle. The headlights are new and have projectors, which can be populated by LEDs. The primary LED DRLs are located in the headlight units.
There is a second set of DRLs below the headlights and these can act as turn indicators. The Toyota badge has been replaced by a plaque with Toyota written on it. Below this is the new honeycomb-shaped grille, which is shared with the Hilux Travo. Below that is an open grille, followed by a thick skid plate, which we wish was real metal.

The alloy wheels are new with these renders and are finished in black for a sporty appeal. The wheel arch claddings are clean and beautiful and get a black finish. Most of the side profile of the Fortuner has been carried over with its kink near the C pillars. The rear section is also likely to be carried over with a new tail light signature and revised bumper.

In desperate need of interior upgrades!
It is expected that the 2026 Fortuner will also get the same interior as the 2026 Hilux Travo. This is a much-needed upgrade for the Fortuner at a low price, completely transforming the interior of the existing model. Toyota calls this ‘strong simplicity’ and the entire dashboard layout is now very sharp and modern.
There’s a new steering wheel, with multiple physical buttons, which is a big plus in our books. Also noteworthy are a new 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster and a new free-standing 12.3-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It has a new center console with several physical buttons and an electronic parking brake.

The India-spec 2026 Toyota Fortuner may also come with a panoramic sunroof. Powering this vehicle will be the same 2.8L turbo diesel 4-cylinder unit which will also be mated to an optional 48V mild-hybrid system. The 2.7 liter petrol unit may continue its duty attracting buyers from Delhi NCR.
