What answers did people give on Quora?
A user named Ajay Kumar Nigam said- “Halt stations are included in the category of non-block stations. These are relatively small stations where trains are not given line clear etc. Therefore, no signals of any kind are installed here. Loco pilots of the passenger trains in whose timetable a halt is given, stop the trains here and after alighting and boarding of passengers, send the train after getting permission to depart from the train guard, and these stations are called halt stations. Are.” Lakshmi Narayan Arora said- “In Indian Railways, there is a temporary arrangement for boarding and deboarding of passengers at the halt station. These stations have no control over the operation of trains and are mostly maintained by contractors. “Trains stop here as per instructions from the nearest main station.” Syed Shakeel said- “These are D class stations where an indicator is installed in place of signals. There is no need of a station master for operation here. The engine driver operates the train as per the timetable at the specified time and place and dispatches the train on the signals of the guard.”
What is the difference between junction and halt?
The answers given by people are correct because the same answer has been given in other sources also regarding the halt station. According to the report of Rail Restro website, halt stations are those where some passenger trains stop according to their timetable. Many times their stay is not decided. Whenever the line is not clear at the next station, then the trains are stopped at the halt station. If the line is clear then the trains move ahead. Some trains are scheduled to stop at halt stations. There is no signal at this station. Junctions, on the other hand, are those big stations, where trains from many places arrive and depart. They are stations connecting railway lines. Junction is a station from where at least 3 railway routes originate. In simple words, understand that when three railway routes are connected at one station, it is called a junction. The word junction means connecting. There are at least 2 train routes for trains arriving at this station.
