The excise department in Kolhapur seized foreign alcohol made in India worth Rs 34 lakh

A shipment of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 34 lakh that was destined for Goa has been seized by the excise department.

According to a representative of the excise department, they learned from their sources that a shipment of alcohol from Goa is being shipped in a container with multiple axles. The sources also received the vehicle’s description and registration number.

As a result, a checkpoint was established along the Gandhinagar section of the Kolhapur city-to-Pune National Highway.

A vehicle that fit the description was stopped when it arrived at the checkpoint. Anil Kadam, a native of Gevrai in the Beed district, said he was transporting medicines to the police after being questioned about the truck.

Sambhaji Barage, an excise inspector, said, “We had strong information that the IMFL is being transported illegally in a container vehicle. When we opened the lock, we discovered 550 boxes of liquor bottles worth about Rs 34 lakh.

We are currently looking into where the alcohol was transported. The driver has been detained, and the container vehicle has also been seized.
