Tata may launch the new Tiago EV in the second half of 2026 or early next year at the 2027 India Mobility Expo.
One of the best selling Tata cars, Tiago (ICE + EV) contributes about 12% to the monthly sales. Tata introduced significant updates to both the ICE and EV versions of the Tiago last year. However, it appears that more updates are planned for the Tiago. This is evident from recent test mule sightings. Let’s see the details.
Tiago EV spied – What’s new?
Test mules of the new Tiago EV have been spotted earlier also. In the latest spy shots, there is strong evidence of a possible update. For example, a new sharp headlamp setup can be seen with top-mounted LED DRLs. The turn indicators are now away from the grille, which is towards the grille in the current model. The headlight internals can also be redesigned.

The wheels are hidden, which suggests the possibility that their design may also be refreshed. We hope they will be alloys this time. A raised section on the roof indicates the possible installation of a sunroof. If the Tiago EV (and even the ICE version) gets a sunroof, it will be a first feature in the segment. The Tiago EV may also get refreshed tail lamps, which will align with the design of the sharp lighting elements at the front.
We can see a new lower grille with horizontal slats. Revised bumpers are also expected at both ends. New fog light positioning and revised ORVMs can also be seen along with a hint of 360-degree cameras. Tata had introduced extensive updates for the Tiago and Tiago EV in 2025. These included a refreshed design, new technical features and new color options. Exterior updates include better LED headlights for better visibility, a redesigned grille and EV badging on the doors.

Inside, updates include a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen, Tata’s new steering wheel with illuminated logo, updated instrument cluster and HD rear view camera with guidelines. The safety kit was also updated with new features. It will be interesting to see what new Tata plans to add to the Tiago EV.
New Tiago EV – Performance, Range
It is possible that the new Tiago EV may get larger capacity or more energy-dense prismatic battery cells in place of the cylindrical battery, as we saw with the 2026 Punch EV facelift. This will ensure a higher range, as well as enhance the capabilities of the Tiago EV from being a city car to a more versatile vehicle that is also suitable for inter-city trips.

Currently, the Tiago EV has battery pack options of 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh. The certified range (MIDC Part 1 + Part 2) is 223 km and 293 km respectively. As per Tata’s C75 standard, the real-world range is 168 km and 205 km respectively. The Long Range (LR) variant of the Tiago EV uses a 55 kW (75 PS) motor with 114 Nm of torque. Like the Punch EV facelift, the charging speed can also be increased.
