Where did the unique samosa come from?
It is said that samosa came with an Arab merchant from Central Asia in the 10th century. Iranian historian Abolfaji Beyhaqi mentioned this in “Tarikh-e Beyhaqi”. It is believed that samosa originated in Egypt. From here it reached Libya and then the Middle East. It was very much liked in Iran till the 16th century. According to Amir Khusro, this was the favorite dish of the Mughal court in the 13th century. However, potato samosas originated in the 16th century, when the Portuguese brought potatoes to India. Since then people have fallen in love with it.
