Deposits of turquoise gems are often found deep in the rocks. Despite this, instead of blasting, turquoise is extracted using a hammer and chisel. This does not harm the environment. Chemicals are not used in the mining process. Water is also used minimally. According to a UN report, women here get a salary of 180 euros every month, which is much better than other jobs. Women sow vegetables around the mine and earn money by selling them. She distributes all the vegetables among the poor and elderly people.
