A tractor trolley struck Kanwaria on the national highway between Delhi and Lucknow
On the morning of Monday, a tractor-trolley ran over a kanwaria from Rampur, age 22, on the NH between Delhi and Lucknow. He died on the spot.
After the kanwaria’s passing, there were violent scenes in Rampur, where the other pilgrims set fire to the tractor-trolley and briefly blocked the busy highway.
To get the situation under control, a large police force from five different police stations had to be called.
SP Ashok Kumar stated the following regarding the incident: “Ved Prakash was the victim, and his body has been sent for an autopsy.
The fire department was also contacted. The route’s traffic was not fully restored for more than three hours.”
We have filed a complaint against the tractor driver under IPC sections 304A (causing death by negligence), 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing harm to anyone by engaging in any negligent act), and 427 (mischief causing damage), the SP continued.
Locals claimed that on Saturday night, 32 people, including college student Prakash, left for Haridwar in order to fetch Ganga water.
After the pilgrimage, he and his cousins Lovely and Arjun Kumar were riding bikes back to their home when the incident took place.
The tractor-trolley was attempting to pass his two-wheeler as he was riding his bike alongside a group of kanwarias. The tractor-trolley was also hauling some kanwarias.
The back wheel of the trolley accidentally ran over Prakash. His cousins were hurt as well.
