If the name Jawa is associated with you, but not the JD 750, Jawa 750 Retro, JD 750 by Jawa Sports and JD 750 by Jawa Touring, then you don’t have to scratch your head. Jawa Motorcycles is a trademark licensed for Classic Legends by Jawa Moto which manufactures Jawa bikes like Jawa 42, Jawa Perak and Jawa 350 in India.

Java Moto is a Czech Republic-based company founded in 1929 where the Java brand originated. So, Jawa Moto and its JD 750 range of motorcycles and the Jawa motorcycles owned by Classic Legends are not related. Now that we leave the history behind, there’s a lot to like about the new Java 730 Twin.
For starters, it is a neo retro motorcycle that looks attractive and cool. It has a circular LED headlight setup in the cowl which also extends to become a fork cover. This element looks aesthetically pleasing and gives a manly and muscular look to the motorcycle. A similar appeal can also be seen on the Jawa motorcycles sold in India, which are reminiscent of the heritage.

Then we have the radiator fins and the tank shrouds also becoming aesthetic design elements. All this together gives the Jawa 730 Twin a café racer design. There is a single seat for the rider and behind it is a racing cowl with integrated tail lights. It also has a swingarm-mounted number plate holder.
Specifications, Powertrain
Notable bicycle parts of the Jawa 730 Twin include USD telescopic front fork from KYB and a monoshock suspension setup at the rear, twin disc setup at the front and single disc at the rear with braking units from Brembo, 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped with thick tires and others. In terms of features, it has a TFT instrument cluster with multiple infotainment and connectivity.

Powering the Jawa 730 Twin is a 730cc parallel twin-cylinder engine with a liquid cooling setup, capable of developing 75 bhp of maximum power and 68 Nm of peak torque, mated to a sequential gearbox. The engine is said to be developed by Swiss engineering firm Suter, known for its work in the Moto2 championship between 2010 and 2012.
The Jawa 730 Twin is expected to go on sale at the MotoSalon trade fair in Brno, Czech Republic next month. It is not likely to come to India in the near future. Or maybe never. Classic Legends may be more interested in launching more 650cc offerings under BSA and other brands in its segment.
