After the success of the BE 6 and XEV 9e, Mahindra expanded the Origin electric SUV lineup with the launch of the XEV 9S. It is India’s first mainstream electric three-row seven-seater SUV and has created quite a stir in the country. It seems like buyers are rushing to get their hands on the XUV 9S and the waiting period reflects just that. let’s take a closer look.
Mahindra XEV 9S Waiting Period
Being India’s first three-row seven-seater electric SUV in the mainstream segment has its advantages. Mahindra knew this very well when it launched the XEV 9S in the country late last year. This electric SUV also brings the highest VFM offer within the Electric Origin lineup as prices start at Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-sh).
That’s less than the XEV 9e, while offering the versatility of three rows of seating. Indian SUV buyers have rewarded this bold move and demand is increasing. Mahindra has received over 93 thousand bookings for the XEV 9S and XUV7XO within just four hours, taking the company’s total business to around Rs 20,500 crore.
The waiting period is quite high with the Mahindra XEV 9S, which can go up to 9 months depending on the trim level chosen. The XEV 9S is offered in Pack One Above, Pack Two Above, Pack Three and Pack Three Above trim levels. Mahindra is giving priority to the production and delivery of top-spec trims. Deliveries began on January 23, 2026.

The waiting period for Pack Three and Pack Three Above is the shortest, only 3 to 4 months. For pack two above one has to wait for 4-4 months. The pack one above is the one that has the longest waiting period of up to 9 months for the B59 variant (59 kWh battery) and around 6 to 7 months for the B79 variant (79 kWh battery).
Less wait with higher trims
With higher trims, buyers don’t have to wait as long, which is a good sign for potential buyers looking to upgrade. Higher trims also bring more features and comfort amenities, an experience Mahindra hopes buyers will choose. The XEV 9S comes with more features and comfort features compared to the XEV 9e, while costing less.

Features like the opening panoramic sunroof, electrically operated Boss mode that offers a powered co-driver seat, ventilated front and rear seats, a foldable picnic table for the rear occupants, a dedicated rear blower with third-row AC vents and others are exclusive to the XEV 9S which the XEV 9e and BE 6 still don’t get.
