Hero MotoCorp, India’s largest 2W manufacturer by volume, has its own electric vehicle vertical called Vida. After launching the V1 lineup, V2 lineup and then the VX2 affordable scooter, Vida has entered the electric motorcycle segment with the launch of the DIRT.E K3. However, this is not a mainstream adult motorcycle, but an electric bike for children.
That said, Hero is also working on a Vida electric motorcycle and we recently saw the company trademarking the design of the VxZ (Vida x Zero) electric motorcycle. Similarly, Hero MotoCorp has now patented what looks like a production-spec version of the UBEX concept. let’s take a closer look.

Hero Vida Ubex Design Patented
Late last year, Hero Vida teased four new electric concepts for the 2025 EICMA show. These include DIRT.E, UBEX, NEX and VXZ. While the Vida Nex is a micro electric car with gullwing doors (of sorts), the other three are electric motorcycle nameplates. One of them is UBEX, which is now patented in India.

As the name suggests, UBEX is an urban electric motorcycle nameplate and the design reflects an aggressive and sporty street fighter. We have a sporty fascia with mono projector headlights and LED DRLs above and below it. These are surrounded by LED turn indicators. The design patent looks like it’s of the production-spec version and not the concept.

We say this because the concept bike had USD telescopic front forks and the design patent has conventional RSU telescopic. The wheels are similar to the concept and the overall design is also the same. We can see a straight handlebar, sporty design including the fuel tank (not that it holds fuel) and side body panels.

It has a single-piece seat with a slight step up for rear seating space. Overall the ergonomics look straightforward and comfortable, thanks to the highly neutral footpeg position. The pillion grab handles are of the split type and the Vida UBEX also has a tire hugger, a tubular trellis type swingarm and front and rear disc brakes.

what to expect?
The main attraction that catches everyone’s attention is its big battery pack. It extends down to the bottom, which suggests the capacity may be higher. The UBEX will also come with a mid-mounted motor that drives the rear wheels. It may feature a TFT instrument cluster with multiple features including turn-by-turn navigation.

The launch timeline is not known yet and it seems that public road testing of this electric motorcycle has not started yet. Upon launch, it will be sold through Hero’s Premia dealerships as well as dedicated Vida dealerships.
