Mahindra Racing has recorded its second win of the 2025/26 Formula E season, with Nick de Vries winning a dramatic wet-dry Tokyo E-Prix.

Mahindra Racing has added another win to its strong 2025/26 FIA Formula E campaign. Nick de Vries won Round 15 of the championship in Tokyo, taking his second win of the season and the sixth Formula E victory of his career. This result is also an important milestone for Mahindra Racing. This is the first time since the 2017/18 season that an Indian team has achieved multiple Formula E wins in a single season.

Mahindra Racing wins Tokyo E-Prix

Tokyo hosted Rounds 14 and 15, with Mahindra Racing scoring 38 points over the weekend. On Saturday Edoardo Mortara started from second place and remained in podium contention before ultimately finishing fifth. De Vries had difficulties in the early races after suffering an injury on the first lap and finished 17th.

The situation changed a lot on Sunday. Mortara dominated the qualifying duels and took pole position in the final, defeating Antonio Félix da Costa by six-tenths of a second. It was Mortara’s fourth pole of the season, equaling the Formula E record for most poles in a season, as well as setting new personal and Mahindra Racing records.

De Vries charges from P5 to victory

The second race started behind the safety car due to wet conditions. Mortara held the lead at the start, while De Vries dropped to seventh as Mahindra opted for tire pressures suited to the drier circuit. Ultimately that decision went in De Vries’ favor. As conditions improved, he began moving through the field and moved up to sixth place during his first Attack Mode deployment.

On lap 26, De Vries activated his remaining six minutes of attack mode and moved through the leading group to take first place. A late multi-car incident involving Mortara brought out a red flag. This set up a one-lap sprint to the finish, with Nick Cassidy and Jake Dennis behind De Vries. He retained the position to take the checkered flag and Mahindra Racing’s second win of the season.

Championship fight heads to London

The victory gave de Vries 25 points and moved him up to ninth in the Drivers’ Championship. Despite retiring from Sunday’s race, Mortara is currently in fifth place. More importantly, Mahindra Racing now has 210 points in the Teams Championship, just one point behind third-place Andretti.

The result continues Mahindra’s long-running electric motorsport program at a time when the company is also expanding its electric vehicle presence on the road. The Formula E program remains the performance end of Mahindra’s broader electric mobility story, in line with the brand’s #ScreamElectric positioning.

There are now only two races left in the 2025/26 Formula E season. Rounds 16 and 17 will be held in London on 15-16 August, where Mahindra Racing will have a chance to fight for a top three finish in the Teams Championship.
