Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday presided over the state level program organized by the Department of AYUSH at Sports Authority of India (SAI) Synthetic Track Ground, Anu, Hamirpur on the occasion of International Yoga Day.

The Chief Minister practiced yoga for about 45 minutes with around 2,000 participants, including senior citizens, youth and children. Sukhu inaugurated the yoga session by lighting the lamp and offering prayers to Lord Dhanvantari. He also released a booklet related to International Yoga Day. The booklet contains a concise compilation of important information about various yoga postures and exercises.
Governor leads Yoga Day celebrations at historic ridge
Meanwhile, Himachal Governor Kavinder Gupta led the celebrations on the occasion of International Yoga Day by participating in a mass yoga session organized at the historic Ridge Ground in Shimla. The program was jointly organized by Himachal Pradesh Police Department in collaboration with Department of AYUSH.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that today India’s ancient yoga tradition has been adopted by people all over the world. He stressed that efforts should be made to promote yoga in every household so that every person can live a healthy and balanced life.
He said, “A healthy body is the foundation of a healthy mind. Yoga provides a holistic path to physical fitness, mental well-being and spiritual growth.”
