The Mets opened the series with a 6–4 win in Philly on Friday night, starting with a pair of solo home runs from Juan Soto, the first coming in the first inning off Phillies starter Aaron Nola and the second cutting the Mets’ lead to 3–1 in the top of the third inning. New York broke a 3–3 tie in the seventh on pinch-hitter Eric Wagman’s RBI single and Marcus Semien’s two-run triple to win and improve to 34–41, while the Phillies fell to 40–35 overall and 21–19 at home. Alec Bohm singled, doubled and drove in two runs in the losing effort for the Phils.

The Phillies are on the board as the betting favorite (-194) and left-hander Christopher Sanchez (8-3, 1.82 ERA) is set to make his 16th start of the season. The 29-year-old ranks in the top four in Major League Baseball in wins (8, tied for fourth), ERA (1.82, third) and strikeouts (116, second) on the strength of his breakout 2025 campaign. Opposite him will be Mets righty Freddy Peralta, who is 5-5 with a 3.90 ERA and a win over the Atlanta Braves in his last start.
