Medical leader Shantanu Sen has resigned from the post of party spokesperson by writing a letter to former Chief Minister and Trinamool leader Mamata Banerjee. He said that accepting the decision of the public, he has decided to leave this post. Shantanu spoke openly to the on-duty doctor about corruption in the hospital after the rape and murder incident. At that time he was suspended due to anti-party comments. He was also removed from the post of spokesperson. Later he regained this post. After Trinamool left power, Shantanu left that post again. He has sent a letter to the party leader asking for his resignation. However, it is not yet clear whether his resignation has been accepted or not.
Shantanu has been ‘voiceless’ for the last few days. A few days ago, he had posted on social media and congratulated the newly elected BJP government in the state and thanked the new Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. This made Trinamool uncomfortable. After this, on Wednesday, Shantanu spoke openly on the RG tax incident. He said that he is ready to provide all kinds of help to the Subhendur government in the investigation of the incident. Shantanu sent a letter to Mamata on Thursday and resigned from the post of national spokesperson of Trinamool.

Why did he suddenly leave the post of party spokesperson? Shantanu said, “As the spokesperson of the party, I had to support many unethical activities. I had to do everything even if I did not want to. It is clear from the results of the assembly elections that people did not accept the RG tax incident or job theft. People should take that decision on their head. That’s why I resigned.” Shantanu wrote in a letter to Mamata, “I have worked as a loyal soldier of Trinamool since birth. When the team used me, I tried to work with dedication. Thank you and thank you for giving me the opportunity to work in various fields.” But now when people have rejected us for various unethical actions and corruption including RG tax scam, job selling, my heart does not agree to support him as the spokesperson in any way. Therefore, after getting the people’s decision, I want to resign from the post of All India Spokesperson of Trinamool.

BJP came to power in the assembly elections with sole majority. He won 208 seats. Trinamool got 80 seats. Grassroots unrest and rebellion have continued since the vote fell. Leaders are opening front against the party one after the other. The party is being criticized by openly admitting that the people who have given this decision are due to institutional corruption and heavy handedness. On Wednesday, another party spokesperson Arup Chakraborty resigned from the post of member of the Municipal Corporation Accounts Committee. Councilor Sushant Ghosh has resigned from the post of Borough Chairman. This time Shantanu left the party directly. As a result, divisions at the grassroots level continued in the post-poll period.
Trinamool leader Vishwajit Dev brazenly pointed fingers at Mamata and Abhishek Banerjee regarding Shantanu’s resignation. Consultancy firm IPAC has been put in the dock. In his words, “Very soon this party will break into pieces. So much institutional corruption has happened, didn’t Mamata or Abhishek know? Can this happen? There was anger in the party about IPAC. Everything had to be done through iPAC. No matter how many times I tried to speak about the plight of the workers, I was not allowed to speak. I am away from the party for the last three years. The root of the ruin is that eyepatch. They used to take money from the workers.
