In the recent Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift test mule spy shots, there was a second mystery test mule that slipped through the cracks. It was faintly visible in those spy shots. However, this mystery vehicle has now been spied with more details and clarity, with its rear design, side profile as well as its front fascia and a bit of its interior revealed.
However, very little is known about this upcoming Maruti Suzuki vehicle as these are virtually the first set of sightings. It looks like a large vehicle with SUV styling and proportions and resembles an electric car. But it could also be an ICE vehicle and a plug-in hybrid. Let’s take a closer look at what it can and can’t do.

New Maruti electric car spied
This upcoming product from Maruti Suzuki could be an electric vehicle, most likely it will be bigger than the existing Evitara. It appears that all fingers are pointing towards the Maruti Suzuki YMC, a 7-seater electric vehicle, which may also be offered in a 5-seater option, which this particular test mule could be, given the presence of a rear parcel tray.
The Maruti Suzuki YMC will be based on the same Heartect-E/27PL platform as the Evitara. Upon closer inspection, it looks like this particular test mule is running on the same 18-inch alloy wheels as the Evitara, perhaps even shod on 225-section tyres. Another feature that suggests this is an EV is the absence of an exhaust on this particular test mule.

The front of this alleged YMC EV seems to be inspired by the Victoris ICE SUV. It seems to be fitted with a conventional headlight setup with the same LED DRL signature as the Victoris. The small upper grille also looks similar to the Victoris, but the lower grille and bumper elements are different around this area.
Viewed from the side, it seems that the shape of its front door is similar to other Maruti cars like Victoris, but the rear door looks unique. Furthermore, it has conventional door handles and they are conventionally located too. The wheel arch cladding has a kind of trapezoidal shape, similar to that of the Victoris or Grand Vitara or Evitara.

What else could it be?
The rear is where we see a distinctive identity with this upcoming new Maruti electric car. It seems to have a connected LED tail light design with a unique LED signature. The reflectors on the bumper are horizontal and there is also a shark fin antenna. This particular unit also has UV cut glass on the windows, which is no longer exclusive to Nexa vehicles (with the launch of the Victoris).
Apart from the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YMC electric vehicle with 5-seater and 7-seater options, there are a few other possibilities as well. For starters, the fuel filler cap located on the rear left side suggests that this particular SUV could be a facelifted Grand Vitara, which will carry the features currently offered by the Victoris (ADAS, 10.2-inch infotainment screen and TFT cluster). It should be noted that this unit did not have a powered tailgate, which Victories get.

Also, there is very little chance that it could be a PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid), now the MG Starlight PHEV is coming. However, this is not a facelift for the Ertiga. This is because the Ertiga was recently (quietly) updated with major changes to the rear sheet metal. Change is not likely in the immediate future.
